Thought Provoking

Dear friends, I trust your Christmas was a meaningful one.

This morning I read the following quote and found it very thought provoking:

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."C. S. Lewis

God, through Jesus Christ, has offered us an abundant life and yet those of us who have tasted and seen that the Lord is good tend to be satisfied with the misty flats when we could rise higher where eagles fly. Revel in all that we are and have in Christ today. He came to give us more than existence. He came to give us life to the fullest extent.

Be encouraged today and let's rise up and live up to the potential that is ours in Christ.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." - Ephesians 1:3 (NIV)

Dear David..In a way I was thinking about this a few days ago.
With the weather being so mild, the seagulls have been out.
When I see their whiteness and gracefulness as they glide through the air they are for sure a lovely bird.
But then when you see them swooping down to the ground to feed on garbage, I thought to myself...Just like some of us Christians, myself included, we are so often feeding on the garbage of this world, hearts washed white in the precious blood of the Lord Jesus and yet feeding on garbage instead of the pure Word of the Lord.
Oh to be like the eagle that you are writng about here David!

Oh Dear David,

That phrase..."we are far too easily pleased" has really struck me. I find it most convicting...and it makes me want to examine my life and see where I am far to easily pleased.

Terry's words are very thought provoking...and paint a perfect picture.

Whether it be our thought life...or activities that we engage in...indeed we are far too easily pleased.

When we get to heaven...we'll see how much more we could have done to serve our Lord and Savior, to bring Him glory, honor and praise.

We'll see how much territory we gave over to "the enemy"...when instead he was a defeated foe.

How much we tried to approach life on our own power instead of staying plugged into the power that we receive through our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Thank you David...for continually challenging us in our walk with Jesus.

Lord bless...Susan
